History | |||
"Last night, An Orient's captain, Larude Xavier from Lorient said that the boat had been hit by a gigantic wave and sank within three minutes. He said they had no time to launch their life-rafts or put on life jackets. The ship's bosun, Fernando Neves from Aveiro in Portugal, said that it was a dreadful experience. When the ship sank, he and three others were in the same area. He said he made a desperate attempt to save one of the French crewmen but after an hour, the man's strength failed him and he died in his arms. The Shannon Coast Guard helicopter rescued the three survivors."
